KOOLKAP® Down-Under bags, as used in both open cut and underground blasting, are a self-inflating bag that, when activated and lowered down or placed up a blast hole, will seal off the blast hole, giving you an effective deck for loading explosives and/or stemming.
They save you time and money with a variety of uses:
- Air decking for pre-splits, significantly reducing your powder factor.
- When loading de-watered blast holes, you can deck above the water and use less emulsion.
- Deck for stemming to prevent contamination of the explosives.
- Air decking for standing off the coal/ore bed to reduce shock damage.
- For multi decking in through seam blasting.
Reliable
A failure costs you time and money and increases the risk of injury. PR Polymer’s goal is to achieve zero failure for the KOOLKAP® Down-Under bags. The patented activator cap cools during operation, reducing misfire and making them ideal for both hot and cold conditions.
KOOLKAP® Down-Under bags have been tested in the Colorado winter, and up to 65⁰C in the Australian summer, making them ideal for all conditions.
You need reliable products like our range of KOOLKAP® Down-Under bags because you can’t afford to waste time plugging the same blast hole twice.

KOOLKAP® Down-Under HD
The Heavy Duty plastic technology developed by the R&D team at PR Polymers stems from over a decade of experience in the harshest conditions of mines located around the world, where performance is paramount.
PR Polymers’ KoolKap® Down-Under HD bags support heavy load faster and more reliably because of its unique co-extrusion construction.
KOOLKAP® Down-Under LQ
KoolKap® Down-Under LQ presents a new range of cost effective bags based on local customisation and improvement. The specification allows us to customise load and grip time specific to your onsite requirements based on excellent performance, strength, quality and reliability.
With no compromise in the raw materials used, savings are simply passed on to the customer based on efficiency through our local manufacture, supported by our single phase patented brew. Most importantly, the environmental characteristics and safety considerations are second to none in the industry.
The KoolKap® Down-Under LQ has already become a market leader and preferred global solution since its launch in 2016.
For more timing options for grip, the KoolKap® Down-Under DUO has a unique double ended aerosol can providing up to 4 individual speed settings. They are great for sites with varied conditions. One bag type can handle changes in hole depth, angled drilling, geology and dry or muddy blast holes.
KOOLKAP® Down-Under HOT HOLE
With a specially formulated mixture in the aerosol in addition to a protective outer bag, we produce two high temperature/hot hole bags. The High Temp 80° – 100°C bag and the Very High Temp 100° – 120°C bag.
Available Bag Sizes
KOOLKAP® Down-Under bags are made to suit a range of blast hole diameters. We recommend using the intended bag for the blast hole diameter as using a larger bag in a smaller blast hole could put excessive pressure on the bag causing it to fail and/or compromise the blast hole.
We can customise bags to suit combined hole dimensions in certain applications based on the next size up or down. Gas brews are formulated accordingly for such requirements.
